Protest Eggs!

This is an ongoing series of Painted wooden eggs begun in 2016 as a response to Russia’s military threats to Ukraine. From childhood, I have always dyed eggs using the traditional Ukrainian method of wax resist. I adopted the traditional motifs and updated them to include various political frustrations: the failure of the Occupy Movement, anger over lack of gun-control legislation, eggs supporting women’s reproductive rights, Black Lives Matter, the protection of the environment, etc.

With the election results in 2017, I began a new series in orange, black and white targeting recent reasons to be angry and #RESIST. They cover a range of topics including Alternative Facts, Kompromat and the Russian hacking of the election, Pussy Grabbing, Wall building and the Emoluments Clause. 

50% of all protest egg sales goes to Planned Parenthood– the eggs are available individually or by the half-dozen. 

Custom angry phrases are available, they make a great gift. These are hand-painted wood, signed by the artist.
